long weekends…

Posted in Daily by adam

I feel like I have accomplished a lot this weekend.  Managed to tie up loose ends and catch up with some friends that I don’t get to see often enough, mainly due to living in The Netherlands now.

There have been many black days in the last week.  Being alone at home has been hard and with no-one around it has caused me to slip into some pretty erratic working patterns.  But then, I always did work better at night than I ever did during the day.  If only people harnessed my midnight work ethic,  that didn’t involve pumping gas or serving fries…

Anyway, that late night work caused me to almost miss lunch with Clare, Jamie and Amelie on Saturday.  Even though they texted me 45 minutes before they picked me up I was still late.  Primarily because I didn’t get out of bed until they knocked on the door.  We had lunch at the Wheelhouse, near the Falkirk Wheel.  (FYI - their wireless password is wheel, I sent a video up to QIK at lunch).  We walked up to the Falkirk Wheel after lunch and I grabbed some photo’s of the wheel turning, they are on my Flickr account.  The photo of the chocolate egg has a comment from Lisa Bettany, is my web whore idea working yet?  Most likely not!

Anyway, after a quick haircut (in which I may have picked up another project) and some food I spent the rest of the day with Tommy, Mhairi and their tribe of children.  It was nice to be around kids and to see Tommy and Mhairi.  It was a good day.  It reminded me of the things and people that I really do miss from being at home.  Yet, not enough to want to live here again.

I look forward to getting home and having some kind of routine back in my life, although with Nicki going to Tobago soon and with my grandfather now in hospital I don’t feel that routine is the right word to use.  My grandmothers funeral is tomorrow as and I have taken the day of work to attend and then I can fly home.  I am glad that I got to see her before she passed away, but I am sorry that she had lost her power of speech by the time that I got home.

  1. glad u didnt miss out with lunch with clare, jamie and amelie. Falkirk wheel house is lovely and good food…….. although service can be bit slow at times! Great to hear you caught up with Tommy , Mhairi and the ” tribe” . …I also enjoyed our lunch at ” behind the wall in falkirk” …… thankfully the conversation was better than the food !
