57 men arrested for flirting here.  I regularly bite my tongue in this blog when it comes to religion and I certainly don’t want to start arguments about it, but seriously, the kingdom really needs to get itself out of the dark ages.  Among the crazy laws of the kingdom: women aren’t allowed to drive,  you are not allowed to to have relationships with the other sex outside of marriage (this is punishable by law).  If you are a women you are SOL because you need a mans permission to:

• marry
• work
• travel
• be educated

I would say that some of these are basic human rights?  The kingdom defends this by saying that their law is Sharia law.  Of course their is no democracy in a Monarchy, so the people have no choice?  Or is it that the women have no choice and the men are happy with it as it is?

And the obvious question, where is George W. Bush with his tanks and planes and aircraft carriers and his threats of bringing democracy across the world?  “Well, hold on their son, The Kingdom is the largest exporter of oil in the world.  And most of that is coming into the good ol’ USA.  We can’t be cutting off our noses to spite our faces can we…”  I guess Saudi Arabia won’t need democracy until they cut off the oil supply to the states eh?
