I am always impressed at the amount of free things that can be picked up on the internet. I am not talking about the free ipods that you can receive for being the 10 billionth person to visit this site, which can also slow your computer down to the point of no hard drive return, but more about the design and artwork that people are willing to give you to use (for free) within your own website. The site that has impressed me the most today is probably vecteezy.com which is also part of brusheezy.com and fresheezy.com. Their stock of brushes, wordpress themes and vector images is most impressive. You could spend the rest of your life in these sites and still not find what your looking for, but come out with twenty-five hundred things that you didn’t know about but couldn’t possibly live without.
It’s a bit like visiting your local walmart. But for nerds/geeks/designers/artists (delete as applicable).
The reason that I was surfing these sites (while I wait patiently on roughly 1 Terabyte of data being copied) is because I am going to be starting on a new website this weekend for my wife. She wants a website for her latest project and seems to think that I am the man for the job. I think it is more of case of buying what you can afford, I am after all free. This was slipped into our wedding vows, which went something like this:
“…will you love her, comfort her, honor and design websites for her, in sickness…”
Apparently I am now contractually obliged to do these kinds of things for her! However, for me it means that I get to (hopefully) extend my skills and learn some new things. At the top of my current reading pile is a Adobe - Classroom in a book: Photoshop CS2. So far it has been excellent and I would thoroughly recommend this type of book from Adobe, I have an illustrator one around somewhere as well…
So, with a weekend of playing on the net to look forward to, hopefully not getting thumbs poked into my eyes, I’ll end this entry and get back to surfing for free stuff. For anyone that has the kind of free or helpful links to design sites send me a comment.

I use Dreamweaver; some waster has been showing me how to use it! Let me know if you want his email address.
